Any tips for cleaning everyday glassware?

I have an ordinary set of glassware that seems to have a permanent film on them from repeated use and dishwashing. I even think they retain this "dusty" smell. I'm sure no one else notices it, but it bothers me. Any cheap cleaning ideas? I'd rather not buy a whole new set.
