Linux Wireless LAN problems?

I have an ASUS 1001P netbook and with every version of linux I have tried. I have not been able to get wifi to work. I looked it up a while back and it seems to be a problem with my model netbook. I have tried Ubuntu and Puppy Linux, I have tried using the suggested drivers that it has presintalled but none of them work. It just said it cannot connect to my internet. The drivers dont work at all. What can I install to get this to work? I really want to know because my netbook would run so much smoother with Linux instead of Windows. Thanks.
