How do you make a sims 3 series?

ok so i kno how to like film and edit but like what i really wnat to do is how do you make them do what ever you want and stuff...like i've seen on some other peoples series the sims doing things that you normally cant do if your playing...wow this is so hard to explain...if you get my question could u help?
